PVC - O

Molecular Orientation Technology

OPTIFLUX High Strength Oriented PVC Pipes are the most advanced pipes for the conveyance of high-pressure water currently available in the market, with a number of exceptional features for this kind of application, thanks to the process of molecular orientation. PVC-O has been developed specifically for potable water pressure distribution systems.

OPTIFLUX PVC-O pipes use a revolutionary new molecular orientation technology which orients the PVC molecules both in the axial and circumferential directions (bi-axial orientation). The bi-axial orientation process is carried out by stretching the initial extruded pipe along the axis (Axial Orientation) and by expanding the diameter (Hoop Orientation). The degree of hoop orientation determines the resistance to internal pressure and impact and the axial orientation provides resistance to internal stresses particularly in the socket. The stretching of PVC molecules under precise and homogenous distribution of pressure and temperature by this high-tech orientation process orients and preferably aligns and lengthens the polymer molecules; which significantly increases strength of the material.

The phenomenon that is molecular orientation was discovered many years ago, and the most common application is potable water applications under pressure. The process of molecular orientation results in an exceptionally tough, high performance thermoplastic pipe with greatly enhanced physical and mechanical characteristics, increased hydraulic capacity greater impact resistance, higher strength, elasticity & ductility, improved fatigue resistance, better creep behaviour and reduced weight as compared to uPVC, HDPE and Ductile Iron pipes. The process allows energy efficient production whilst conferring considerable performance advantages and gives it a number of exceptional features. The ultimate tensile strength and impact resistance of PVC-O pipe is up to four times that of conventional uPVC pipe and equivalent to that of Ductile Iron pipe. This makes for a plastic with unbeatable qualities in terms of resistance to traction and fatigue, flexibility and impact resistance. These environmental and engineering advantages mean OPTIFLUX is the high-performance, cost-effective pipe material choice for pressure water applications.

OPTIFLUX High Strength Oriented PVC Pipes are the highest performing, lightest weight most cost effective pressure pipes and is considered to be the best application for high pressure water transport, particularly drinking water for water supply networks. These pipes are manufactured in the diameter range from 110 mm to 315 mm.
